Spread Hong Kong revolution to China! Defeat the white terror of the CCP dictatorship and big business!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The \u2018831\u2019 ruling of the NPC Standing Committee ignited the Umbrella\nMovement five years ago, but today Hong Kong has entered an even larger mass\nuprising. The current anti-authoritarian movement has lasted longer than the\nUmbrella Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As five years ago, now the CCP dictatorship and the puppet Hong Kong\ngovernment refuse to make any concessions to the mass movement. They initiate\nfake negotiations to buy time, while at the same time escalating the police\nviolence against protesters. The government has also threatened to use the\nEmergency Regulations Ordinance to establish a full-blown dictatorship in Hong\nKong, but the masses show no fear of any legal repression. The Ordinance, if\nimplemented, will radicalise wider layers of the masses and produce continuing\nresistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prepare for a real general strike<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to break the current stalemate and defeat the white terror\n(sackings, beatings and sweeping arrests), the movement needs a new direction,\nenabling the working class to fulfil its great potential. Hong Kong workers\nwill launch a second general strike in less than one month. This is the right\ndirection for the struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to maximise its effect, the strike needs to be organised.\nThe general strike called for September 2-3 should become a springboard for\nestablishing new workers\u2019 organisations. At the strike rally, if the CTU, the\npro-democracy trade union confederation with 190,000 members, calls for workers\nto join or establish unions and strike committees and prepare for a real and\nmore powerful general strike, it will get huge response. If the trade union\nleadership does not make such a call, grassroots workers need nevertheless to\nbuild new militant workers\u2019 organisations on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big business, especially Cathay Pacific, threaten and sack workers\nwho support the struggle, because the airline and airport workers\u2019 strike last\ntime frightened the CCP dictatorship. We need to mount a forceful fightback\nsolidarity protests and strikes across all companies and sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workers\u2019 organisations need to show unity and fighting will, to\nattract those who fear the bosses\u2019 crackdown. Meanwhile, the movement should\nlink to workers\u2019 livelihood issues such as low wages, long working hours, lack\nof public housing and the insane wastefulness of white elephant infrastructure\nprojects. Big business, which ruthlessly exploits workers, is also the loyal\nsupporter of the authoritarian system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The general strike and the entire mass struggle should demand the\neight-hour working day, a minimum wage of HKD 60 per hour, substantial\nincreases in public housing and public services, a universal pension system,\nand heavy taxes on the rich and big business to provide funds for the above\npolicies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spread Hong Kong revolution to China<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The movement must break its current isolation in a single city,\nspreading the struggle to mainland China. Both the current struggle and the\n\u2018831\u2019 ruling five years ago show that the CCP dictatorship will never allow any\nreal democracy in Hong Kong. Therefore, in order to win, Hong Kong\u2019s revolution\nmust spread to mainland China and topple the CCP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we organise a real general strike against the whole system of\nauthoritarian capitalism, we will be more able to attract mainland Chinese\nworkers and youth who are like us suffering from poverty, unaffordable housing\nand authoritarian rule, for a united struggle against our common enemy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Socialist Action calls for the founding of a new mass working class\nparty to provide direction and leadership for the movement based on class\nstruggle lines. A worker\u2019s party could powerfully push forward the movement and\nattract workers and the oppressed in mainland China to fight together with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
